A new project for the burn

You may recall that last fall our burn art project, GALAXY, was finally able to debut at Alchemy. You might think that since it proved to be quite fragile we would be spending all our time on 1) repairing it; and 2) hippie-proofing it.

And you would not be wrong; we are in fact spending all our time doing that, if by “we” you mean Chief Engineer Turff. I am merely the artist.

I — the artist — am spending my time on the next phase of the project, i.e., a silent disco for the hippies to use while they are walking the spiral. To that end, I have been collecting new age/space music tracks to play as the soundtrack; I have about three hours of time-suspending music.

But then, a couple of weeks ago, a member of our camp, Wizard, posted this video of him playing “with thunder,” as he put it, and I asked him to send me the soundfile so I could add it to the GALAXY soundtrack. (He has, of this writing, not done so…)

And that’s when it occurred to me: Why not ask the hippies to write/perform music for the soundtrack? Why not make the project a project of COMMUNAL EFFORT?

I announced the GALAXY Soundtrack this past Saturday, and while I can submit Azure Stone and be done with it, I think I’m going to write a new piece specifically for the soundtrack. You, too, are welcome to compose something, even if you can’t (or don’t want to) go to the burn! Guidelines and deadlines at the link.
