Fun Friday Resources

Yearning for connection? Want to support the U.S. Postal Service? Send a postcard!

Over at Europeana, they have a lovely collection of postcards from the past. Steal them and print them; steal them to reconfigure them; steal them for inspiration.

The Smithsonian has its own collection of digital postcards. (They also provide instructions on printing and mailing.) Or head over to the Smithsonian’s Cooper Hewitt Design Museum and find your own images for creating postcards.

If you’re in a giving mood, go support our friends at the Public Domain Review. Twice a year they’ll send you a packet of eight postcards using designs from their collection. (I just received a packet, they’re excellently done.)

What do you do with all these postcards? Write a few words of support or appreciation to your friends and family. Everybody likes getting mail.

Or go get an account at Postcrossing and send (and receive) postcards from all over the world. (I just got one from a young linguist in Moscow!)

Break through the isolation. Only connect.
