Fun Friday Resources

The Space-Type Generator is pretty dazzling, though limited in its usefulness — not all the formats have a way to save your creation, and the format on which I was able to use the Save button did not save what I had created on the screen. (You can however right-click and save the still image.) The landing page takes your typed phrase and wraps it around a rotating cylinder, giving you all kinds of parameters you can mess with. Make sure you see the dropdown menu in the upper right corner: there are way more tools to play with than the cylinder you see at first!

You’ll have to imagine these lines of type scrolling across the screen…

VERT is actually incredibly useful: Convert your file into the file format of your choice. Like justaqrcode.com, it requires no registration and does not save or use your personal information.

Artist festivals in 19th-c. Munich? In elaborate costumes? Yes, please. The site is in German — it’s the Munich City Museum after all — but in my browser at least it offers to translate the site into English. Cosplaying and/or furries do not seem to be a modern invention.

This last one is not a fun resource at all. It is one of those poems about how schools and society (and let’s face it, parents) stifle “difference,” which is what they fear when they encounter creativity. It’s called “Stiff,” and while I can’t vouch for the backstory, it still packs a punch for this former “different” kid.

In other news, I am this close to finishing Little Waltz 10, “Finale,” and thus to finishing Ten Little Waltzes. Hopefully more on Monday!
