What's next?
/Since I’ve finished Ten Little Waltzes, what’s next? Funny you should ask — no sooner had I announced that I was done than the wags in my life (and they are legion) began to demand that I get started on an ABBA opera or a play of some kind (I am not a playwright), or etc.
Even worse, some suggested that I actually finish some of the major projects currently frustrating my future biographers.
To all them I say, “Fie! Out upon you!” Or words to that effect.
I am not twiddling my thumbs. Nor am I actively working on any project. (It is the holidays, after all.) Nor am I planning my next project.
What am I doing? Based on my long experience in these matters, I’m waiting. It’s the turning of the tide, as we say in Lichtenbergianism: That time when one project is finished and the other has yet to present itself. Even if I had something in mind, I know better than to start it before the last project has completely left my space.
And Ten Little Waltzes is not yet done with me. Stay tuned.
