I am attending the shenanigans
/In a little bit I’m going to climb into the cab of a 15-foot rental truck and drive about 30 miles north of here to attend Alchemy — Georgia’s version of Burning Man — and won’t be at my keyboard until next Wednesday.
(I am wearing my LET HILARITY ENSUE t-shirt, which you can purchase at my CafePress store, which I bet you didn’t know I had.)
Before I go, I have an update about Ten Little Waltzes. I sent “9. Passionately” to my piano goddess, Maila Springfield, so she could evaluate its playability by an “average pianist.” She replied on Sunday that yes, it had some problems that would make it very difficult for anyone to play, which was exactly my suspicion.
So I’ll set that one aside, save it for something orchestral — one form of ABANDONMENT — and compose something to fit that “Passionate” slot but which will be playable by someone with only two hands and ten fingers.
As a reminder, here’s the mp3:
And if you’re curious about the suite as a whole, you can find it here.
I’ll see you next Wednesday.
