New violin piece: update 2/1/23

I’m digging back into the violin piece I started a couple of weeks ago, using an ABORTIVE ATTEMPT fragment from my old SUN TRUE FIRE material.

It’s a mess. I mean, it has some lovely moments, but slow movements have never been my forte. I’m having to slog my way through it.

Here’s the score [PDF], and here’s the mp3:

It starts out well enough but as usual falls apart. You’ll hear it just peter out, then a measure of… something not good… and then another section where I use my rational brain to invent a minor middle section.

Probably I will try working on the end next and see if I can see where I’m going to end up. (If you’re thinking What? You can’t just skip to the end, can you?, please review the King of Hearts Fallacy.)

One more comment: the other day someone posted a meme that said something along the lines that a poet, an artist, will hear a sunset — and I think that’s what this piece is: a sunset.
