Fun Friday Resources

Let’s have a few resources on “getting unstuck,” for those times that you are overwhelmed by TASK AVOIDANCE, not that I’m suggesting that this ever happens to you. (I am suggesting that this happens to you.)

Over at the great Austin Kleon’s blog, his post on How To Make A Map of Your Mind is spot on: It’s kind of a kanban dump of all the ideas/topics/distractions/goals caroming around in his head. If nothing else, it’s a short TASK AVOIDANCE to end the TASK AVOIDANCE. (If you don’t subscribe to his weekly newsletter, you should.)

Becky, over at Doist, gives us the J.O.T. Technique, i.e., Just One Thing, to stop procrastinating and get on with it. Certainly if you’ve been just stuck staring at a wall like most of us, this might be useful spur you into at least a little action, but the strategy is better for your to-do list than your creative life. After all, TASK AVOIDANCE works as a Lichtenbergian Precept only when you work on Project X to avoid working on Project Y.

Now that you have two systems to declutter your brain, don’t you want to use the ultra-neat lettering of an architect to write them in?

Are you fidgety because you’re increasingly uncomfortable with the solutions Big Tech has handed you? A worthy TASK AVOIDANCE is to rummage around looking for a better browser or videoconferencing app over at Good Reports.

And finally, just for a quality time-waster and potential inspiration, try Stumbling On, a collection of sites (submitted by their owners) that are randomized for your exploratory pleasure. (Most of them seem to be deeply techie or teen goth, but there are some gems.)
