Fun Friday Resources

Lots of pictorial resources this week — but first, some background sounds: Focusli.com allows you to mix and match a host of sounds, adjust their levels, even set a timer for the mix (for your pomodoro purposes). There are several presets (the levels of which you can adjust).

Public Domain Review has a nice summation of Thomas Wright's An Original Theory or New Hypothesis of the Universe (1750) with the really cool illustrations pulled out for you. There’s also a link to the original, of course.

The Biodiversity Heritage Library has A curious herbal :containing five hundred cuts, of the most useful plants, which are now used in the practice of physick engraved on folio copper plates, after drawings taken from the life (1737): lovely illustrations of plants.

Find “classical art” over at Artvee: they search and aggregate works in the public domain from a variety of sources, all free to download and use under a creative commons license.

One of those sources is the New York Public Library’s Public Domain Collections, which presents a dense but useful overview here. Too much to explore, and so quite useful in TASK AVOIDANCE.

Onward!
