A quick rundown of projects

Here’s where I am on a variety of projects, because I know you’ve been wondering:

  • The Unfortunate Archibald Marble: My design/layout of Elizabeth C. Waight’s middle grades gothic fantasy/mystery — coming soon from Boll Weevil Press — is in its final stages of revision/design; will go to press next week.

  • AlterAlchemy Burn Night: My funtime project of a fake placement map for the burn that I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AT RIGHT THIS VERY MINUTE comes to a climax with a mini-effigy burn tomorrow night in my labyrinth. I’ve been working on the effigy for a couple of days now. With any luck it won’t rain on my parade. (If you’d like to be there via Zoom, go register.) Full report on Monday, of course.

  • Fence art: After asking JoAnn Fabrics last month to email me when the sewing machine I’d like to buy became available, I was surprised to see an ad in a New York Times article offering just that — from JoAnn Fabrics. It was delivered yesterday, so with any luck that project will be finished next week.

  • Lizard decoration: On hold until I get away on Retreat.

  • GALAXY Project: I am poised to pack up and mail all my work on the electroluminescent wire loops to my chief engineer, Turff, so that he can figure out a way to power 200 of these things without have to buy, maintain, and switch on and off 200 battery packs. (GALAXY was placed very prominently at AlterAlchemy.)

  • The Diary of Anne Frank: Oh, have I not mentioned that I was invited to play the role of Mr. van Daan in a benefit reading of The Diary of Anne Frank to raise funds for the Atlanta Artist Relief Fund? It was kind of sudden, actually. Here’s the info:
