Today in Things I Never Thought Of Being Possible But Now I Wish I Were That Good, here’s a nine-hour video of driving across Iceland, scored by Sigur Rós. (Shorter videos here.) That’s right, someone recorded nine hours of slow video and someone else wrote music for it. And that’s right, this is a thing that Scandinavians do on the regular.

So if you need a stable sonic environment for RITUAL purposes, i.e., getting into that space where you do the work, this is a stunner. Besides providing serene sounds that never intrude, there’s nine hours of video—often static—that you can lose yourself in if you need a little TASK AVOIDANCE to help the project along. (At 3:06, I’m watching the rocky coast in the dim light. In the distance I can make out waves crashing, but otherwise everything is that unearthly stillness we’ve come to associate with the Icelandic landscape.)

If you don’t want the visual distraction (oh look, a car just drove onto the shingle), try Calmy Leon for a modifiable sound generator. (And you’ve already bookmarked MyNoise from past Fun Fridays.)

Oh look, another car just drove past (3:15).
