Countdown: 7!

We’re at 7 in our countdown to publication of Lichtenbergianism: procrastination as a creative strategy, and today we look at Precept #3: ABORTIVE ATTEMPTS.

This one is key, folks.  Do not wait until you can do it right before you do it. Because we live in an age where we have access to so many curated pieces of creativity — music, paintings, movies, computer software — and they’re finished and perfect by the time they get to us, we risk coming to believe that they emerged from their creators’ minds complete, whole, and perfect, like Minerva from Zeus’s skull.  (Look it up.)

Learn this now: they did not.  They never did, and they never will.

So the idea that you’re going to sit down with your WASTE BOOK or your laptop or your piano and just rip out your next masterpiece is a foolish illusion.  Stop it.

Instead, buy Lichtenbergianism: procrastination as a creative strategy on Amazon, Fri, Nov 17.

HUUUGE UPDATE HERE: As you already know, anyone who buys the book from Amazon on launch day (Nov 17) will receive some freebies from me and my friends.  But now there’s a really cool incentive: you’ll have your name put into a hat, and a randomly selected reader will receive a Quarterly Subscription of WASTE BOOKS from the incredible Field Notes Brand! PLUS three other readers will receive a pack of Field Notes' current Special Edition, the Dime Novel Notebook. This is HUUUGE!
