Phil Kline’s Unsilent Night is an experience for the whole family that you will not want to miss.

Simply put, Unsilent Night is a community “ramble,” accompanied by overlapping sound tracks of bells and angelic choirs, composed by Phil Kline. In Newnan, some of the group carries lanterns as well. As the tintinnabulation swirls around downtown, viewers are delighted with both light and sound surrounding them.

(If you are not near Newnan, here’s a list of all the other Unsilent Nights around the country.)

Anyone can participate, and here’s how:

1 – Be a part of the sound.

Go to unsilentnight.com and follow the instructions. You can download the app or just one of the tracks. (Don’t everyone download #1!)

Then meet up at Greenville St Park in Newnan, GA, on Saturday, December 2, any time between 7:00–7:30 pm.

At 7:30 pm, your leader gives the signal, and you push play on one of four pieces.

We begin to meander as a group from the park to the Court Square (obeying all traffic laws!), and there we split up and wander to and fro around the square, weaving an enchanting web of music and sound. When the courthouse chimes 8:00, we wend our way back to the park.

2 – Be a part of the lights.

Any festive lantern you have on hand or want to make — bring it! Meet in the park (see above) and walk with us.

Come and build a lantern at Backstreet Arts on Nov 2, Nov 9, Nov 16, and Nov 30 at 6–8 pm! Workshops are free and open to the whole family.

3 – Just walk with us.

That’s right, just meet at the park and walk with us to enjoy the experience from within.

4 – Just watch us.

Find yourself a spot on the Court Square and let Unsilent Night unfold around you.

When the Court House clock chimes 8:00, that’s our cue to wander back down to the park, where we gather and listen as the music fades away, note by note. By 8:20, we’re done!

That’s all there is to it, but if you have questions, feel free to email unsilentnightnewnan@gmail.com and ask!
