Weirdness at Barnes & Noble
/Yesterday I had an hour or so to waste between appointments, so I went to the café at Barnes & Noble to work on Lichtenbergianism for Kids for a bit. That didn't take the whole time, so I got up and browsed. I became curious as to whether the store carried Lichtenbergianism: procrastination as a creative strategy, given their self-proclaimed enthusiasm for local authors, so I whipped out the phone to check.
They did not. I was not surprised. But there was some entertaining weirdness.
Not only does the store not stock it, you can't even have it shipped there. Wonder what that's about.
But that wasn't the end of it. I was intrigued by the "NEW & USED" thing — have I really sold enough copies that people are dumping them? I decided to go check.
"Shipped from UK within 4 to 14 days"?? Honey, I can mail you one from Newnan, GA, tomorrow.
And then there was this:
Apparently, here is a used copy of my book in "good" — not "excellent" or "like new," just "good" — condition... for $94.66? WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?
More importantly, how can I get in on this?
